Until we meet again

This picture was taken on August 30th, 2017 in Maui. That night I wrote this:

There’s a statue in the Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm, it sits atop a hill watching over the whole island. Its face serene, palms open, legs in lotus position, unmoved by the weather or circumstances, yet completely open to them.

It is odd to think of a metal statue as warm, but in that moment it was a soft bossom for me to rest upon, to close my eyes and let my nose take in the lavender infused wind that surrounded us, a place to listen to the still small voice within me that told me I would be back, that we would meet again.

When I opened my eyes I held its hand firmly, the way a friend would, reassuringly. Without really knowing who was reassuring who.

Today I found out I will, in fact, return.
Miracles are everywhere.
