Good bye my friend
dress: Cosette (gift), tights: Nordstrom, shoes: Gap, watch: Michael Kors, hematite bangles: c/o Angel Court
My friend Shayla and I met on campus back when we were in college. We worked together, and slowly but surely we became friends. I love my friend Shayla, and if you met her you would love her too. She's the kind of friend who believes in you even when you stopped believing a long time ago. She can see past the crappy, ugly parts of being human, just to find the good, tender part of the soul we have inside.
She will let you talk, and talk, and talk, and she will listen. And then, out of the wisdom of her beautiful brain, and the caring part of her amazing heart, she will offer a piece of advice that will turn out to be just what you needed to hear.
Shayla will buy a bridesmaid dress, bright pink 5 inch heels, and a ticket to Ecuador, just to stand beside you on your wedding day.
I don't know about you, but I don't know many people like her, which is why when she told me she is moving to Seattle to pursue her master's degree I forbade her to leave, I pleaded and begged her to stay. But anyone who knows Shayla understands that when she puts her mind to something, there's no stopping her, so instead I find myself here to wish her the best, to say farewell in the best way I can: With an outfit post.
You see, Shayla and I share an affinity for pretty things, and as the good friend she is, she offered to leave part of her closet loot with me. Amidst that generous bounty was this beautiful dress I have styled as a way of saying thank you.
For the dress, your counsel, your patience, your love, your listening skills, your company, and your love. Your friendship is precious to me. Seattle is gaining a gem.
Good bye Shayla, may God bless every step you take.
All my love,
P.S. You better get your butt back here in 2 years... Unless I'm not here anymore, in which case I will leave a forwarding address.
